Most Canadians fear Strait of Hormuz crisis will hurt global and Canadian economies – and their own ability to make ends meet
April 3, 2026 – Toronto, Ontario – A new CityNews/Canada Pulse Insights survey finds most Canadians bracing for the fallout of Iran’s decision to sharply restrict shipping through the Strait of Hormuz, with equally high concern about its impact on the global economy (88%, including 52% very concerned) and on Canada’s economy (88%, also with 52% very concerned), and nearly three‑quarters (72%, with 34% very concerned) worried about their own ability to make ends meet.
